Rote Island (Pulau Rote)

Rote Island is 1214,3 square kms and it was a part of Kupang regency but since 2002, it was officially established as a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province. Rote is the southernmost island of Indonesia. It is located near the West Coast of Kupang and has an exceptional spectacular natural environment with clear, transparent waters, caved rock formations, terraced plantations and rolling hills rugged with palms trees, savana & some forests.

Rote is also known for its beautiful white sandy beaches namely Nemberala and Oeseli in West Rote sub-district. It has also become a class surf destination. The best surfing season starts from April and runs until November. There are two types of surf spots known as a left-hander in Nemberala, and a right-hander in Bo'a.
